Prior to their purchase, the units were owned and operated by Angel Trains and Great Central. Both 43480 and 43484 were outshopped from the painters in Rail Adventure grey on the 19th April 2021. Both units were both part of a British Rail Initiative, with both units being among a total of 14 to be fitted
