1865 CIVIL WAR. Bible belonging to Mustering Soldier, Jacob D. Witters of Pennsylvania Slavery at Fort Delaware1815-A very nicely preserved example of a Civil War pocket New Testament, printed specifically to fit in inside Union Soldiers' uniform pocket. This particular example belonging to Jacob D. Witters of Lititz, Pennsylvania, then also signed by his son Emanuel G. Witters as well. Interestingly, Jacob does not show in the mustering records, though he was married in and his son, Emanuel, was born in 1860. He then disappears from records until 1865 at the end
