Higonokami Pocket Knife with Black Handle 75mm Shirts Housed in a break-resistantAround 1894 hardware wholesaler Taseburo Shigematsu commissioned blacksmith Sadaharu Murakami to create the Higanokami knife based on a blade of unknown origin (perhaps a Mercator knife from Germany?). Like our other folding knives, the simple and rugged construction made it a ubiquitous and long lasting knife in Japan. At the peak of its popularity there were 50 manufacturers producing the knives. In 1961 after a political assassination led to a
